Pompeii. The world’s most astonishing historical time capsule. Once a vibrant and sprawling Roman town, it was buried under ash and rock for centuries following the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. But the town was almost destroyed a second time – during WW2. This immersive special follows the extraordinary mission of a scientific team as they track down the bombs to save this incredible ancient city from further devastation. And through the team’s work, we’ll solve the mystery of why Pompeii was targeted by the US and UK during WW2. © National Geographic [Credits] Shooting Producer & Director: Fabio Cerveira Executive Producers: John Fothergill , Carlo Massarella Post Producer: Laura Voak Editors: Hacene Azzoug , Paul Bernays , Mark Hanford , Alex Rees , Ben Weissbort Production Executive: Anna Cowdry Production Manager: Kate Cloke Production Secretary: Zofy Abbasi Production Company: Windfall Films
