这就是圣诞节

SO THIS IS CHRISTMAS Award-winning filmmaker Ken Wardrop (His & Hers) opens his version of a Christmas story with a classic, snow-filled countryside shot accompanied by jingly music. But as the text reads “Somewhere in Ireland at the most wonderful time of the year with everyone being of good cheer,” the keen eye of a master social observer swiftly shifts the narrative. Five households open up about the seldom discussed but equally real experience of being unjolly at this time of year. Whether straining to cover Christmas expenses, bracing for heightened loneliness or facing the practical difficulties of sharing a meal with merry-makers, this assortment of seasonal truths is wrapped up in all the 35mm beauty of Wardrop’s signature interview style. Filled with Irish humour, compassion and sincere curiosity, this alternative holiday movie captures the authentic joys and pains of the most wonderful time of the year.
