Beyond the Bolex

A young director digs into the family archive and discovers a legacy of a wider scope, when she realizes that her great-grandfather was the one who invented the Bolex camera: a light and versatile machine that changed the way in which films were made. A fascinating journey in the genealogy of avant-garde and mainstream cinema alike, through its technologies and, mostly, through its people who insisted that democratizing the medium is a genuinely revolutionary act.
